Ham & Eggs - About Us!
The Slightly Askew Adventures of Inspector Ham & Eggs is the brainchild of artist Lauren Monardo and writer Stephen Lindsay - a duo notorious for feeding off of the inane chatter of one another. What some might view as a simple, off-handed comment, Stephen and Lauren view as a gold mine of ideas. A simple idea, phrase, or even a word can quickly spiral out of control into a concept, then dip further into a plan, and finally come out as a viable comic - much like Ham & Eggs.
Based on opposite ends of the State of New York (Stephen in Rochester, Lauren in Staten Island), the duo interacts almost entirely through the magic of the interwebs - conversing daily over chat, sending ideas and images through email, and generally goofing off when they should be working.
Their creative career together began when Lauren illustrated a story for Stephen's book Jesus Hates Zombies: Those Slack-Jaw Blues. So impressed was Stephen with Lauren's work that he asked her to do another story in the book... and then the back cover... and then the zombified illustrations of all of the artists involved... basically everything Stephen could get Lauren to do (and then some). The working relationship was so much fun that the pair decided to keep working together, and continue to do so...
