T’was a cold dark night in ol’ River City when the idea for “The Slightly
Askew Adventures of Inspector Ham & Eggs” was hatched. Artist &
Co-Creator, Lauren Monardo was diligently working at her desk on the
show Venture Bros.for Cartoon Network and chatting with friend and
collaborator Stephen Lindsay when the blessed event occurred. Work
was wrapping up on Season 3 of VB and Lauren was in need of a job.
She had just finished working with Co-Creator and Writer, Stephen, on
his first book, “Jesus Hates Zombies”, and the two were eager to work
together again! But alas, life in New Pork City isn’t cheap, and Lauren
needed work. She joked about becoming a deli spy for Boars Head Brand
(the finest meats and cheeses in all the land, by the way) and calling herself, INSPECTOR HAM! This idea was punctuated by a quick doodle featuring a detective with an enormous pig head. The two chuckled...but then lightning struck! The two loved the name and the bizarre, albeit hideous, little pig detective.

“I say, old chap, what of a sidekick for this inspector”?**

“No, no, dear fellow, the sidekick concept has been quite done and did
and all that.”

“Ah,” interjected Stephen, “But what if it’s a wee plump hatchling named EGGS?”

Well that settled it. Soon the duo were rambling off what others
might consider nonsense; eye-patch & monicle wearing racoons
named STRUDEL, evil nazi-esque boars named BARON VON
BLACKFOREST...and on and on it went ‘til the two arrived at what you
have before you.One hell of a twisted and wonderful comic!
